MOREHEAD CITY — City police arrested the star of a reality show based on the life of tuna fishermen and charged him Tuesday with assaulting a female.

David Carmen Marciano, 49, is from Massachusetts. He was arrested and taken to the magistrate’s office in Beaufort where he was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Mr. Marciano, captain of the vessel Hard Merchandise, appears in the National Geographic Channel show “Wicked Tuna.”

Police here said they received a report about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday reporting that Mr. Marciano had pulled the ponytail of a hotel clerk about 1:10 a.m. Monday.

The clerk reported Mr. Marciano appeared to be intoxicated.

Large bluefin tuna landings have been reported recently and have attracted fishermen along the East Coast, including the “Wicked Tuna” boats.
