The braying duck!

A male mallard duck has little privacy as he attempts to take a bath in the pond at Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary in Hubert. The males tend to rear up to make sure the water gets to all the feathers for a good clean bath, according to Toni O’Neil, PAWS director. She said that as they rear up, the ducks will sometimes make a “braying quack” that she refers to as the “donkey call.” (Pete Rulon photo)
