Chuck Meeks, 77, of Newport, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.

His service was today at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. John B. Thompson Jr.

Chuck proudly served the country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 10 years, including serving in the Vietnam War. His strong work ethic and leadership skills placed him as manager of Sears, where he worked for 20 years. In his younger years, he was a boxer and earned his Golden Gloves, which he was quite proud of.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joy Meeks of the home; sons, James Meeks and wife Jeanette of Kernersville and John Meeks and wife ReneƩ of High Point; and grandchildren, Jessica Meeks, James Meeks Jr., Gavin Meeks, Allorah Meeks and Autumn Meeks.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Frank Meeks.
