Charlie Alfred Lewis, 66, of Louisburg, formerly of Carteret County, completed his earthly journey Saturday, June 8, 2019. He died at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.

The family received friends Tuesday at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services in Louisburg.

He was born May 8, 1953, to Evelyn Robinson Lewis and the late Alfred Lewis. Charlie loved his family. He was a devoted husband, and he called his mother every Sunday. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Charlie was gifted mechanically and could fix about anything with his hands. He enjoyed tinkering and helping others. Charlie had been a volunteer fireman at the Wildwood Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of captain, when he lived in Newport.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Rice Lewis; son, Tony; daughter, Jennifer; granddaughter, Faith; mother, Evelyn; brothers, Thomas Lewis and wife Loretta and Kenneth Lewis; sisters, Deborah Walls and husband Eric, Jo Ann Henderson and husband Enoch, Jeanna Stalcup and Barbara Myers; a close first cousin, Steven Lewis and wife Mary; and his cousins, nieces and nephews.
