James Berkley Nolen Sr., 80, of Beaufort, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at his home.

His service is at 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Beaufort with the Rev. Curtis O. Donald Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Willoughby Nolen of the home, daughter, Derria Nolen Dixon of Greenville; son, James Berkley Nolen Jr. of Greenville; four grandchildren; five brothers, James B. Carter of Roanoke, Va., Alphonso Carter and and Gerald Carter, both of Norfolk, Va., Raymond Carter of San Antonio, Texas, and Jerome Carter of Baltimore, Md.; and three sisters, Sandra Copeland and Mae Carter, both of Virginia Beach, Va., and Cynthia Phillips of Irving, Texas; as well as a host of extended family.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
