In a bombshell report Monday, no pun intended, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented Iranian documents — videos, blueprints and files — obtained by the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, from among 100,000 pages of a secret archive Iran hid in a bunker in Tehran. It shows Iran lied in a nuclear deal with the administration of President Obama in 2015.
“You may well know that Iran’s leaders repeatedly deny ever pursuing nuclear weapons,” said Mr. Netanyahu. “You can listen to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei: ‘I stress that the Islamic Republic has never been after nuclear weapons.’ … Well, tonight, I’m here to tell you one thing: Iran lied. Big time.
“After signing the nuclear deal in 2015, Iran intensified its efforts to hide its secret nuclear files. In 2017, Iran moved its nuclear weapons files to a highly secret location in Tehran. …
“So this atomic archive clearly shows that Iran planned, at the highest levels, to continue work related to nuclear weapons under different guises and using the same personnel. …
“Iran was required by the nuclear deal to come clean to the International Atomic Energy Agency about its nuclear program. This was an explicit condition for implementing the nuclear deal. Iran has to come clean. So in December 2015, the IAEA published its final assessment of what it called the military aspects of Iran’s nuclear program. This is the report. …
“Here’s what Iran actually told the IAEA. It said, Iran denied the existence of a coordinated program aimed at the development of a nuclear explosive device, and specifically denied — get this — specifically denied the existence of the Amad plan. [Five 10-kiloton nuclear warheads about the strength of the U.S. bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 for long range ballistic missiles.] The material proves otherwise, that Iran authorized, initiated, and funded Project Amad, a coordinated program aimed at the development of a nuclear explosive device. …
“Iran said to the agency that it had not conducted metallurgical work specifically designed for a nuclear device. But the files again show this is a lie. Iran conducted extensive metallurgical work specifically designed for a nuclear device. Here’s an original Iranian photo. Plenty more in the archive,” said Mr. Netanyahu.
Lauding the Iranian documents as one of the Mossad’s “greatest achievements,” he said U.S. intelligence verified them as authentic.
Discovery of the secret files is extremely relevant because on May 12 President Donald Trump will announce whether the U.S. will remain in the agreement. European leaders want him to because they benefit from business deals with the Iranians paid for with planeloads of American dollars Mr. Obama airlifted to Iran.
Said Fortune magazine:
“The controversial $400 million payment that the U.S. sent to Iran in January 2015, just as four American hostages were released — a planeload of Euros, Swiss Francs and other currencies — was only the first of three American cash deliveries to the country, the Obama administration reportedly told lawmakers on Tuesday.
“During the 19 days following the first shipment, the U.S. sent two more planeloads of cash, totaling $1.3 billion, to Tehran, reports The Wall Street Journal.”
In addition to the money Mr. Obama gave Iran, it allowed Iran to conduct inspections, with Iranian experts, of its nuclear program at Parchin, the Iranian complex home to Iran’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile development.
Though Mr. Obama should have submitted this deal to Congress as a treaty — because “No international agreement in a generation matches this in strategic significance and geopolitical gravity” — said columnist Charles Krauthammer in September 2015, he didn’t because he knew he would never get it ratified.
“He’s not close to getting two-thirds of the Senate. He’s not close to getting a simple majority. In the latest Pew Research Center poll, the American people oppose the deal by a staggering 28-point margin,” said Mr. Krauthammer.
Explaining Mr. Obama negotiated “a swindle” only requiring 42 senators, one-third of one house of Congress by filibustering, Mr. Krauthammer said Mr. Obama “enshrined the deal as international law at the U.N.” two months prior eliminating the need for a congressional vote.
Mr. Obama’s deal legitimized Iran’s nuclear program as peaceful, which was a crock. This entitled Iran to international assistance. Hence, said Mr. Krauthammer, “the astonishing provision buried in Annex III, Section 10 committing Western experts to offer the Iranian program our nuclear expertise.”
Specifically “training courses and workshops.” On what? Among other things, on how to protect against “sabotage.”
Meaning we were and are now required to protect Iran against the very Stuxnet virus, developed by the NSA and Israel’s Unit 8200, that for years disrupted and delayed an Iranian bomb.
Mr. Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry warned Israel to not even think about a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities whose leader said it would destroy Israel within 25 years. The Israelis were also told that if they attempted a defensive, nonmilitary cyberattack (a Stuxnet II), the West would help Iran foil it.
Mr. Trump has called Mr. Obama’s Iranian deal, which imperials America and Israel, one of the worst ever. Mr. Trump must overturn it.
