George M. Petty, 72, of Morehead City, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at his home.

His service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Karl A. Zorowski. The family will hold a private graveside service.

George proudly served the country as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he earned several medals for his bravery and conduct. After the military, he remained at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and worked in the simulators field of civil service. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord and enjoyed his church family at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Morehead City. He loved the outdoors, whether he was boating, hiking, running, bicycling or traveling he was always on the go.

He is survived by wife, Becky Petty of the home; and sister, Donna Kwiatek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Adria Petty.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 111 Hodges St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
