Edward Patrick Rotchford Jr., 62, of Swansboro, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, in Okinawa, Japan.

His service is at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro with Pastor George Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

He was born May 2, 1956, in Oceanside, Calif., a son of the late Edward Patrick Rotchford and Ila Bennett Rotchford. Ed faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy, became a certified public accountant, received a master’s in Biblical studies and then began his career as a comptroller in civil service.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Baldwin Rotchford; daughters, Melanie Thurmond of Georgia and Jennifer Rotchford of North Carolina; son, Joshua Rotchford of Lousiana; grandchildren, Ellie Brown, Sophia Brown, Ila Brown, Savannah Thurmond, Bella Thurmond, Ethan Thurmond, Elijah Rotchford and Ethan Rotchford; sisters, Mary Rotchford, Ruth Rotchford and Ann Rotchford, all of North Carolina; and brothers, Clifford Rotchford, Joseph Rotchford and Paul Rotchford, all of North Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The American Legion Post 364 in Virginia will host a memorial service Saturday, Jan. 19.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandy Run Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 999, Jacksonville NC 2854.
