Frances Roberta Maness, 79, of Swansboro, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City with her family by her side.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born May 12, 1939, in Greensboro, a daughter of the late Hubert Roy and Elaine Estelle Reed Maness. Frances was a police dispatcher for Carteret and Onslow counties and was also an EMT with Carteret General Hospital (now Carteret Health Care) and Swansboro Rescue Squad.

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Moore Wellspeak of Swansboro, Johna Moore Stoneking of Virginia Beach, Va., and Erin Moore Edwards of Bogue; sons, Shawn Moore of Irmo, S.C. and Michael Moore of Bear Creek; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Leon Maness of Florida; and a sister, Anita Lynn Truex of Florida.
