Vanceboro woman faces drug trafficking charges

BEAUFORT — Vanceboro resident Victoria Caroline Smith, 24, faces multiple drug trafficking charges following a joint investigation between the Beaufort Police Department, the Newport Police Department and County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, officers apprehended Ms. Smith in Beaufort and found her in possession of 8.6 grams of heroin and other drug-related paraphernalia.  They arrested and charged her with trafficking by possession, trafficking by transportation, and trafficking by manufacturing. She was placed in the Carteret County Jail in Beaufort under a $1 million secured bond.

The arrest is the culmination of a three-month investigation, according to information provided by the Beaufort Police Department. The investigation still ongoing.
