BEAUFORT — One-stop early voting in the primaries for the U.S. House seat representing District 3 ends Friday, not Saturday as previously advertised.

The County Board of Elections said Friday morning they received word from the state that the requested Saturday early voting session was not approved.

Elections officials said a miscommunication left them unaware the Saturday hours had been cut. More information was not immediately available.

As such, Friday will be the final day of early voting, with two sites open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters can visit the BOE’s office next to the public library in Beaufort or the Western Park Community Center in Cedar Point.

All precincts will open Tuesday morning for the primary elections.

North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District seat was held for years by Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr. prior to his Feb. 10 death.
